BACK IN THE DAY

Our parents and grandparents lived through the dust storms, the devastating economic Depression and two world wars.

BACK IN THE DAY most of our parents and grandparents kept their optimism tempered by the reality that the American way of living was ever-changing.

Things could change at any moment.

They knew, the economy could collapse, the fields could dry out and become barren; and angry words between ruling class men could plunge us into wars that wasted millions of dollars and millions of lives …

Their parents and grandparents were slaves.

They put their faith and trust in God.

We could not go to white movie theaters…

We could not drink from their water fountains or sit in the front of their bus.

They provided signs to prevent people from becoming confused…we had white and colored signs all over America…
